S.S SHIM SHEET ROLL 304 & 316

S.S. (Stainless Steel) shim sheet rolls in grades 304 and 316 are thin sheets of stainless steel used to fill small gaps, adjust alignment, or provide a gasket-like function in machinery, construction, and other industrial applications. Grade 304 offers good corrosion resistance, strength, and formability, while Grade 316 provides superior corrosion resistance, particularly against chlorides, due to the addition of molybdenum, making it better for harsh environments like marine and chemical processing.
S.S. 304 shim sheet roll
  • Description: A versatile and common grade with excellent all-around properties.
  • Composition: Contains approximately 18% chromium and 8% nickel.
  • Key Characteristics:
    • Good corrosion resistance
    • High strength and durability
    • Excellent formability and weldability
    • Resistant to extreme temperatures
  • Typical Applications: Food processing, chemical, architectural, automotive, and general manufacturing.
S.S. 316 shim sheet roll
  • Description: A premium grade with enhanced corrosion resistance, ideal for demanding environments.
  • Composition: Contains approximately 16% chromium, 10% nickel, and at least 2% molybdenum.
  • Key Characteristics:
    • Superior corrosion resistance, especially in chloride-heavy and acidic environments.
    • Excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.
    • Good strength and durability.
  • Typical Applications: Marine, chemical and petrochemical processing, medical equipment, and food processing in highly corrosive conditions. Choosing between 304 and 316
  • For general use: 304 is a cost-effective choice with a good balance of properties.
  • For harsh environments: 316 is the better choice when superior corrosion resistance is needed, especially in the presence of salts, acids, or other harsh chemicals.
  • Cost: Grade 316 is generally more expensive due to the addition of molybdenum.
