OIL STONE
An oil stone is a type of sharpening stone, often made of fine-grained stone like novaculite (Arkansas stone) or synthetic materials like aluminum oxide, that is lubricated with oil to sharpen cutting tools. The oil prevents metal filings from clogging the abrasive surface, allowing for a consistent and durable sharpening process that maintains the stone’s flatness. They are used for putting a final, keen edge on tools by grinding away metal through abrasion.
